Older Adults, Caregivers, and Family

ADULTS AND AGING

I specialize in helping older adults, their families, and caregivers with the myriad issues associated with aging. These may include memory loss, medical challenges, changes in family dynamics, depression, anxiety, loss of relationships, grieving, and the complexities of long term care and end of life planning.

THERAPY TO HELP WITH LIFE TRANSITIONS

I am a strong believer that people can age and maintain or discover their joy of living (joie de vivre). I help people process difficult or challenging experiences and learn to adapt to life changes necessitated by aging.

Cognitive impairment and dementia

Memory loss is one of the most challenging events for people to experience. I work with people having all levels of cognitive impairment, from word finding problems to advanced dementia. I also work with their family members and others who are involved in the affected person’s life. Both of these groups can have feelings of overwhelm, frustration, sadness, or anger that can be effectively processed and managed in therapy. I also offer strategies for people desiring to age in place or transition to a higher level of care.
